The Legal Briefing „The Right of Access to Lawyers for Persons Deprived of Liberty” was released by The Association for the Prevention of Torture in March 2010.

The principles and best practices on the protection of persons deprived of liberty in the Americas were approved by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights during its 131st regular period of sessions, held from March 3-14, 2008.

The CPT is required to draw up every year a General Report on its activities, which is published. In a number of its General Reports the CPT has described some of the substantive issues which it pursues when carrying out visits to places of deprivation of liberty.
